  •  Eagle County E-911 Emergency Telephone Service Authority Board NOTICE OF FILING OF APPLICATION BY EAGLE COUNTY E-911 EMERGENCY TELEPHONE SERVICE AUTHORITY BOARD TO INCREASE THE E 9-1-1 EMERGENCY TELEPHONE CHARGE

    You are hereby notified that the Eagle County Emergency Telephone Service Authority Board (“Authority”) has filed an application with the Colorado Public Utilities Commission (PUC) to change its currently effective emergency telephone surcharge, affecting all users of exchange telephone, wireless, wireline, and voice-over-internet-protocol (VoIP) telecommunications services within the Eagle County area (the Application).

    The purpose of the Application is to increase the current surcharge from One Dollar and Twenty-Five Cents ($1.25) to One Dollar Sixty Five Cents ($1.65). An increase to the surcharge is necessary to pay for an maintain, as allowed by Colorado law (C.R.S. §§ 29-11-102 and 104), costs for equipment and installation, monthly recurring charges from service providers and basic emergency service providers, and personnel expenses necessarily incurred for a public safety answering point. The PUC has accepted the Application, and designated this matter with PUC Proceeding Number 19A-0200T. The deadline for objections or interventions to the Application is Monday, May 20, 2019. If a hearing is held, any person may attend the hearing, if any, and make a statement under oath about the Application, even if such person has not filed a written objection or intervention. The proposed effective date for the surcharge increase, if the Application is approved by the PUC, is August 1, 2019.

    A copy of the Application is available for inspection at the office of the Eagle County Attorney and at the PUC.
